Less talk, more action - getting the gender balance right in the workplace

Jenny Parker - President - NAWIC (National association of Women in Construction)

Less talk, more action - getting the gender balance right in the workplace

15% of New Zealand’s construction workforce is female, which proves girls can do just about anything.

But too many don’t feel they can be successful our industry, due in part to the perceived difficulties of bullying in all its forms on site and back in the office.

This needs to change, especially in light of the skills shortage dogging us at the moment.

Jenny Parker, President of National Association of Women in Construction NZ (NAWIC) lays out the facts and challenges preconceptions in this thought-provoking presentation.

Speaker Bio

Jenny is passionate about promoting the benefits of New Zealand’s construction sector and NAWIC to young women.

During her time as NAWIC President, Jenny has focused on education by creating awareness of how NAWIC can support students and guide them through their careers. She is also keen to support women in trades and would like to see NAWIC expand its membership base in this growing area.

NAWIC is committed to inspiring women to take up leadership roles in construction and is fostering strong relationships with industry partners to grow our active role across the industry.
